Flat File Print Shop is a printmaking studio in Newtown, Athens, GA, owned and operated by Amanda Burk. She has her MFA in printmaking from the University of Georgia and has been teaching printmaking classes in the Athens community and across the state of Georgia at the college level since 2007.
Amanda’s goal with this print shop is to teach printmaking to people who want to learn a new skill, a new print technique, or those who just need a refresher course to jog their memory. She also wants to provide a space with access to an etching/relief press and the equipment needed for flat stock screen printing (printing on paper).
Amanda collaborates with artists to create limited-edition prints available for purchase in the shop. Printmaking is a communal art form where the artists share equipment, space and knowledge. Printmaking has always been about disseminating information, knowledge, and art to the people, and Flat File intends to continue that tradition.
