Jay Gonzalez is a local Athens legend, playing guitar and keys for the Drive-by Truckers, and is now playing a set for us at Athentic!
He has been in the bands Loveapple in the 1990s, Possibilities and Nutria in the early 2000s, and also plays in the band Cut Buffer. He is a fan of 70’s power pop music which is evidenced in his solo album Mess of Happiness and more recently in his newest album, Back to the Hive, which was called “lush and pop-tastic. It’s Big Star beauty with a dash of the Beatles” by the Rolling Stones.
