Quig & the Boys began playing around Athens over eight years ago. They take influence from rock, blues, and pop from the 50ʼs to today, covering music from many genres and artists. The eclectic mix is sure to rock the house. From ZZ Top to Heart, Pat Benatar to the Beatles, if they like a song, they’ll rock it out.
The band is named after its lead singer, Michelle Quig. She has been singing solo all her life on the stage, in theatre, in the Athens Choral Society for years, and in a band in high school. She studied music at UGA, and trust, this girl can wail. ʻThe Boysʼ consists of John Merck (bass) and father/son duo Mark (drums) and David Williams (guitar). John is a local musician mostly in Northeast Georgia who plays everything from punk to rock for over 20 years. Mark has been playing drums in Athens for over 40 years and spent a long time playing with the blues-rocking cover band Greg & the Grunttones. David has been creating screaming guitar licks around Athens since the early 2000ʼs, in different bands in just about every venue in Athens.
The variety of influences that Quig & the Boys take on creates a unique and fun atmosphere wherever they play. Whether punking out a new pop song or playing a rock ballad straight from the record, the music is sure to please!
